    Interview

    WestLB terminated its graduate programme after 2008. Then all hires were through "experience hire" route. Hence there was no bank-wide "central planning". Each business units had its own say, to certain extent, on hiring. On the front office side, a number of relationship headhunters specialising in the business field sourced most of the new hires. So the first step would be to be included in these headhunters' data base with related skills and experiences. Normally senior team members shortlisted a handful recommended candidates for interview. Depends on the team, there could be as many as 5-6 interviews (with all team members) before the final decisions. Of course, the most important interview is with the team head.
