Communication and culture tend to be the biggest challenges with on-site/off-shore software develpment models, for testing as well as development. Understanding each other's culture, and finding a communication mechanism that works for both sides can be difficult, frustrating at times, and take a very long time to establish. However, if the effort is put forward and the time is invested, eventually the gap can be bridged and all that is usually lost due to miscommunication and misunderstanding can be salvaged. Written communication seems to be the trumping interim tool to smooth out these gaps while working towards longer term cohesiveness.
