What happens to the gain of a switched capacitor circuit

  when a resistor is placed in series with the input voltage driving source? Why?

Rough hand-wavy answer I got from interviewer: degrades depending on the switching frequency, resistor value, and input sampling capacitor value due to the settling error on the sampling capacitor during the sampling phase. Could also look at the input as an RC filter.
