Even if you do not know all types of music or even close (I surely did not!) just let them know what types of music you like but are willing and open to learn about new types. I really did not like a lot of the music types that Hot Topic carried, but that did not mattered, as long as I was willing to learn about what types of bands were in what categories, and when the new albums were released, I was fine.
