Interviewed Aug 2011 in Saint Louis, MO (took 1 week)
Pretty standard interview with the typical open-ended questions, such as "Why do you want to work for Whelan?" and "What is your best personal quality?"
Interview Questions
Reason for Declining
Laura Muir was not honest with me. If Laura had been up-front with me on the details of the job, I wouldn't have spent a whole day training or paid $64 for a security license.
I successfully interviewed for the job in Troy, so Laura set me up for orientation and training. In the middle of training, Laura pulls me aside and says that the Troy position is no longer available. She says that I can work at the airport for considerably higher pay. Of course, I say yes. However, she neglected to tell me that I would be ON-CALL. 24/7/365. Important detail, no? I didn't find this out until I showed up at the airport. I was aggravated to say the least.
I left Laura a message and she didn't call back. I got a hold of her the next week and she was very unapologetic. She said that the online job listings for Troy and Wright City don't actually exist, and they're there just to draw in more applications.
My advice: if you interview for a job at Whelan, make sure you know exactly what you're getting yourself into.

Interviewed Mar 2011 (took a day)
I applied online, took all the pre-employment assessments and passed, I then called for an interview 1-1 with a member of management. After the interview, was told i was hired, but had to do a background and employment check first. I waited for 3 days, emailed them how long it would take to get the results. On Monday, recieved and email saying they didnt have a position for me at this time, so they refused me. Called to see if it was background check, was told they didnt do that. Not sure why they told me i was hired, but feel that they were not honest with me.

Interviewed Sep 2010 (took 2 days)
It consisted of computer tests, information meeting, interview with the supervisor, was part of another company that lost bid at job site, so was grandfathered in. It was a bit confusing at first, not knowing that we were forced to change companies to get the same job. It was not a bad experience overall. I enjoy my job for the most part and the employer tried to made process simple. I am glad to have ajob and would like to advance in the company. I would recommend the job to others if they understand that is can be boring at times but not bad job.

Interviewed Jul 2010 in Chicago, IL (took a day)
I applied online and was called about a month later. I went for an interview and was told I was going to be hired but needed to find a position for the hours I was available. Still in the process of waiting. During the interview my past work reference was checked during the interview. I am still waiting for a response now and it has just been a little under a week. Hoping to get the job. Did not do a drug test or background check as of yet but did do assessment tests and aptitude test which I passed
