Interviewed Oct 2011 in Phoenix, AZ (took 3 days)
I went in to shop and was asked to apply. I filled out my application in the store and got a call to interview the next day. The interview was a typical group discussion: the store assistant manager and three other girls. I got the job that night.

Negotiation Details
I wasn't able to negotiate but I would suggest not taking their first payment offer. They start very low and I currently only get paid minimum wage at this high-end store.
Other Details
I applied In-Person and the interview consisted of a Group/Panel Interview.

Interviewed Nov 2010 in Deerfield, IL (took 3 weeks)
Interviewed with Store Manager. Reviewed previous retail experience, very casual. 2nd part of interview was to go onto sales floor. Manager described a possible client and an event the client was shopping for. I had to pull together an outfit, including shoes and accessories. Then I had to present outfit to Store Manager and explain why I selected each item.

Interviewed May 2011 in Honolulu, HI (took 3 weeks)
Had phone interview, told me how awesome I was and how well she liked my answers to her questions. Said she would schedule a 1:1 in a city closer to me... never heard another word. Very unprofessional, from my point of view.
In retrospect, I'm certain it was because I was not enthusiastic over their very, very low salary. Not a living wage in Honolulu. She could have been honest with me instead of a big black hole. No interest in working for this company. Period.

Interviewed Oct 2010 in Walnut Creek, CA (took a day)
I found a job posting on craigslist for the White House Black Market in my area, and I needed a job so I applied with an email stating my availability and attached my resume to it. A few days later the Store Manager called me to set up an interview. I had trouble finding parking on the day of the interview, so I got there a few minutes late--but the manager was nice and she took me to the back room and we sat down. The interview took around 20 minutes, and it went super well. A few hours later she called and offered me the job, and I accepted. To be honest, after working there for over a year, I would say that they arent very picky with the people they hire...dress professionally to the interview (I had never shopped there prior to the interview). I've had a couple of co-workers that were really weird or not very well put together...so I would say it's pretty easy to land a Sales Associate job at the location I work for.

They were very quick and easy about it, straight to the point. They dont give out too many hours though for part-timers, but then again your hours depend on how much you sell. The more you sell, the more they want to schedule you.
Other Details
The interview consisted of a 1:1 Interview and a Presentation.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Raleigh, NC (took 1 week)
I met the manager through a mutual friend, and ended up talking fashion with her. She recommend I come in for an interview, so I decided to apply. After being called in for the interview, the store manager gave me a scenario that a woman might come into the store with. I had to find the client outfits to wear on a four day, three night trip to New York in ten minutes, and sell her on at least three of the outfits within thirty minutes. She was convinced that I could pull this off in real life, so she offered me the job at the "base rate" ($.25 over minimum wage).

Bring a proven track record of fashion/wardrobe sales if possible. Their confidence in your ability to sell and your sense of fashion are the two most important parts of WHBM's hiring process.
Other Details
I got the interview through an Employee Referral and the interview consisted of a 1:1 Interview, a Skills Test and a Background Check.

Interviewed Nov 2010 (took 3 days)
It was a surprisingly well rounded interview just to be a sales associate. I remember when I was an associate for a brief time at Forever 21, and that interview was pretty much to determine if you could stand, and hold hangers. Interviewing for WHBM on the other hand is really a personality test- to see if you can sell yourself. Because if you can sell yourself, you can sell your image (or rather the brand image) to clients-- which is the number one thing you are selling when you sell to clients.

There was little negotiation--- just a statement of what the rate was, and you could either accept or decline.

Interviewed May 2011 (took 1 week)
I brought my resume into the store in person. I asked to speak to the store manager. I spoke with some of the other associates while I was waiting for the manager and then I spoke with the manager for about 10- 15 mins. We talked a little bit about my experience and my available hours. She set up an interview time with me for the next week. When we met for my "interview" we spent most of the time casually talking and signing paperwork. I was offered the job on the spot.

Interviewed May 2010 in Spokane, WA (took a day)
Not the most professional I've ever had. The interview seemed to be created as I went along, aside from the basic customer service questions. It also included a selling demonstration to explain the commission structure. I know the business was desperate for associates, so I'm hoping this was the reason for such an unstructured introduction to the company.

When talking about pay I told them I would not settle for less than X amount. My interviewing manager acknowledged my request, but I found out on my first paycheck my request apparently had no value as I was making under what I had asked for.

Interviewed Jul 2011 in Rochester Hills, MI (took a day)
I found the openings list through the Village's website, it said apply in-person, so I brought my resume. I walked in and waited to be asked if I needed help and the woman who was listed online greeted me. She gave me a paper application which I filled out in my car, then returned to the store. She asked me a few questions, whether I was in school and my exact availability. I had an open schedule, which she seemed happy with. I did a skills test which involved being given a customer situation (date outfit) and three minutes to find an outfit and then I had to pitch it. She offered me a position right away (made me a little suspicious)
