Computer Scientist at White Oak Technologies

No Offer – Interviewed in Silver Spring, MD Aug 2010 – Reviewed Aug 6, 2010

Interview Details – My third party recruiter was very high on this company as a good place to work with a bunch of smart people and an ideal fit for what I was looking for, I then talked to the internal company recruiter and we had a long chat of almost 30 minutes and I felt totally in tune with what they were up to. Then I had a puzzle to submit by e-mail and on on-line computer science skills test on which I did well enough to get an interview a week later. It was one these mass candidate musical chair type interviews with three technical guys who were not introduced by title. Clearly smart guys but the guy that turned out to be the lead asked me two more puzzle questions to see what my thought process was -- and downhill we went. Literally the question was -- how do you find a needle in a haystack? The guy admitted that there is no correct answer, but the thought process was the key. Needless to say these guys weren't especially philosophy majors. Also, I kind of got the bums rush out the door.
