One interview-good company reputation-believes in giving back to the community-pleasant interviewer-interview lasted 45 minutes and went well-offered lots of very good ideas as well as professional background in answer to questions posed-nights, weekends and a much lower salary than I currently make made my decision for me before I was notified of not being chosen to continue the interviewing process, but I enjoyed this interview experience... and continue to patron WFM, of course!

Interviewed Aug 2011 (took a day)
So far I have recieved a phone interview as well as a 1:1 interview from whole foods. I was asked to come back today for a second interview and I think that if they choose to continue the interview process I will be asked to complete one more interview with the company making 3 total interviews before hiring.

I enjoyed the 1:1 interview. The guy interviewing me was very nice(like 99% of the employees at whole foods) and I felt comfortable immediately. The position starts and $10/hour with pay increases given upon good job performance/customer service skills. I was surprised to find out that they start that high and give pay raises often. I hope I do well in my second and eventually receive an offer for the position.

The Team Leaders at Whole Foods really expect you to visit every store and meet them. Don't worry about asking them too much of the job itself, but give them a chance to get to know you as a person and how your personality will fit in with their team.

Interviewed Aug 2011 (took 3 days)
There was a quick pre-interview at a job fair. If you pass that you go onto another interview that's more in depth. For mine they ran out of time for the second one. I was called a week later and had to go in two more times to meet different team leaders.

Interviewed Jul 2011 in Park City, UT (took 5 days)
At Whole Foods you are encouraged to move up or move out. It is common for Team Members to move into other departments, other stores, get promotions, etc. I was interviewed once in person and hired on the spot. The second interview for a promotion consisted of a panel of store leadership and peers (Team Members). This was a strange interview as the position needed to be filled and it was more a review of my Action Plan than it was an interview. I agreed on the raise and it was simply, you are the one, good luck. The last interview was denied. I wasn't even allowed to apply for the position let alone learn from the application and interview process. I was completely shocked at the disregard for personal development. When I began to express this disappointment and to question the decision made by store leadership, punishment ensued.

Interviewed Dec 2010 in Austin, TX (took 1+ week)
Whole Foods was very helpful and responsive. They kept me appraised and encouraged every step of the way. It seemed like a lot of interviewing and oversight for a minor position. Disappointing that I didn't get the job but I appreciate them letting me know right away.

Interviewed Jul 2011 (took 1 week)
From the outset until my in person panel interview I had five phone interviews. Their biggest interest was in finding candidates who fit the company culture. I have the skills but they weren't terribly interested. I was several years older than those who interviewed me, they should have known from my graduation dates that I'm not in my 30's. I wish I had worn circa 70's attire, bell bottoms and Birkies. And, NO makeup, don't bother to style your hair.

Interviewed Jul 2011 in Santa Fe, NM (took a day)
I applied online and was called about a week later with a followup question about my cash handling experience and to schedule an interview. The interview was in three stages, starting with the least influential and going up to the most, sequentially. The questions were easy to answer, mostly concerning my work ethic and experience. All three were very friendly, and the first two seemed more to get a sense of my personality before passing me on to the next stage. The first two took about five minutes each, the last about ten.

Interviewed Jun 2011 in Chicago, IL (took 1 week)
If you don't have knowledge of the company and/or organics, you're screwed. The very same phone call to let me know they were interested in me to come in for an interview they asked if I could do a quick phone interview, and I couldn't so we scheduled an interview a week afterwards. That 1st interview was with the TL/ASTL (Team/Assistant Team leaders) of the customer service/front end department. Right off the bat, you're tested on your knowledge of organics and the company, as well as feeding into your personality and people skills as well as job skills tied into the position. The interview went very smoothly and was offered not only a 2nd interview but a job regardless as a cashier if I didn't pull through in my 2nd interview.
The 2nd interview took place five days after and was a panel interview consisting of the TL, 2 ASTL, 2 current supervisors and a cashier where they dug deeper into your personality and work+business ethics.
Even though the 2nd interview gave me nerves a run for their money, the interview still went very smoothly. Seriously about 3 hours after the interview I received a call that I got the job.
