Interviewed Oct 2011 (took 1+ week)
I did a short phone screen interview a few days after I posted an application online and went to interview at the store the fllowing week. After reading the comments on this site I may have over-prepared for interview questions but at least I was more comfortable in having those answers ready to go. Their seven core values were never brought up but I would recommend at least looking at them to know more about the company and what they are about. I ended up interviewing with about three to four separate people at a job fair to determine which department and store to work at. I was offered a part-time position but I was informed it could quickly turn into a full time position.
Interview Questions
How would you describe that food to a customer?
Negotiation Details
There weren't any opportunities for negotiation. Everyone hired at the Team Member level was offered $10 per hour to start.

I Applied Online and the interview consisted of a Background Check, a Group/Panel Interview, a 1:1 Interview and a Phone Interview.

Interviewed Jun 2010 in Salt Lake City, UT (took a day)
Whole Foods Has one of the best ways to Hire, Review, and Promote. They will always set time aside to talk to you 1 on 1. They dont just tell you what you have or have not done. They will explain reasons then wait for you to respond before they move on. I have worked for 2 other Stores and none of them have a process like Whole Foods.
PROS:
Respectful
Listen
Recommend
Even Care about you and your life (Only if you approve)
Multiple Reviews (Not just one a year) During First stages of work 5+ Interviews
Cons:
Must be voted on by your team after 4 weeks work (Great system but can be stressful)

Negotiation Details
Listen to exact details. Don't say yes to anything unless you have one day to think about it. They are very good at promotional advancement in their company so when they have an interview...Take you time.
Other Details
I applied In-Person and the interview consisted of a Personality Test, a Group/Panel Interview and a 1:1 Interview.

Interviewed Mar 2011 (took 2 days)
Received a phone call and was asked a few upfront questions about shift availablity. Once I assured them I could work nights, they scheduled me to come in the next day. The interview was informal. I wore nice jeans heels and a light blazer. We sat at a table by the checkout line. The questions were very simple, tell us about you, why do you want to work at Whole Foods, customer service questions. Really relaxed. All the employee's were friendly, happy and it was a very pleasant experience.

She reviewed my profile and I think the reason they called me was I made sure I filled in the hours of the store for every shift as being available. I also knew what the starting pay was so that wasn't a question brought up.

Interviewed Dec 2009 in Roseville, CA (took 2 weeks)
I had the standard first interview with the usual questions, tell us about you, why whole foods, customer service questions, etc. After that I got a second call interview which was just a little more in depth and then a few days later I was offered the job but because of an unavoidable schedule conflict I declined.

Interviewed Aug 2010 (took 2 days)
Applied online and received a call the following day. The call seemed to be a preliminary interview of some sort, just a few questions about myself. Met the team leader of the department a few days later for a one on one interview. The interview was quick and painless. Questions about why I wanted to work at Whole Foods Market and why I chose this position. They asked a few questions about why I am qualified and previous customer service abilities. Concluding the interview I was asked to come back for a second interview. One week later I met with the store team leader, which was a quick breakdown of the store, position, and working at Whole Foods. There were a few personal questions, but none that hadn't been covered in the previous interviews. I was offered the job and signed documents, and was told my employment will be contingent on a background check. The customer service representatives that I came in contact with were very friendly and helpful. The store environment was very laid back, casual and friendly. Team leaders and members that I met and interviewed with were dressed in their work clothes and very chill.

Interviewed Apr 2010 in Philadelphia, PA (took a day)
The interview was very straightforward. They had already interviewed ten people for the position, but decided to offer the job to me based upon the questions I had for them. I asked how the current team works together, and how things could be improved upon. I also asked how long a typical team member stays in that particular department on average.

Reason for Declining

Interviewed Jan 2009 in Paramus, NJ (took a day)
I received an interview for Whole Foods through the New Jersey Labor department. The interview was on a nuetral site, because the store was still under construction. It consisted of two rounds; easy questions. Although this is not a highly skilled position they were looking for the kind of commitment typical of a person starting a new career, not a new job.
