    Deli Clerk Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Phoenix, AZ
    Accepted Offer
    Negative Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeksinterviewed at WinCo Foods (Phoenix, AZ) in October 2012.

    Interview

It started on a Sunday morning, a call from Winco Foods that had just opened in my city. The dept mgr asked if I could go for an interview in 1 hr. When I arrived, in 1 hr, I had to wait for an hour! Interview was very basic, but felt very impersonal. Two days later, I was offered a position. Was supposed to attend orientation, which indeed I did, but there was no orientation. Uninformed on company policies, etc.

    Interview Questions

    • Dept mgr reading from the interview question sheet - I think the most difficult question was "Why do you want to work for Winco?"   Answer Question

    Negotiation

Everyone starts at the same wage.

    All-Purpose Clerk Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Glendale, AZ
    Accepted Offer
    Positive Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 1 dayinterviewed at WinCo Foods (Glendale, AZ) in September 2012.

    Interview

I applied sometime in the late evening and received a call the following day in the morning. They asked me to come in about two hours from the call. The interview process itself was fairly comfortable as the manager was very friendly. They asked me to take a drug test right after the interview, which I complied with. After passing the drug screen, they told me I start the next day.

    Interview Questions

    • Common interview question, but if I had to choose one asked during this entire interview, it'd be this: Tell me about a time you faced adversity at school/work.   Answer Question

    Negotiation

    8.05. I did not negotiate.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ weeksinterviewed at WinCo Foods in April 2012.

    Interview

Submitted application online for a new store opening. They called me in for an interview with about 300 other applicants. The questions they ask are rather common, "what would you do if a customer asked a question that you don't know the answer to," or "what do you think makes a great boss." After the first interview they told me that they would contact me within a couple weeks. I received an e-mail stating that they were currently pursuing other employee options but they would keep my information on file. About a week later I received a phone call to come in for a second interview. apparently "second interview" is code for you are hired, but we need some paperwork. When I arrived I filled out new hire paperwork and was given some drug testing papers. The company gives you 1 hour to complete your drug test, if you arrive at the testing facility any later then one hour later you fail automatically.

    Interview

I was asked what I would do if I 'saw a customer putting a box of donuts in his pants' (i.e. stealing), I should have answered with 'follow the Loss Prevention rules'. Instead I answered that I would ask if customer needed assistance or a cart. lol

    Application

I applied in-person. The process took 1 dayinterviewed at WinCo Foods (Victorville, CA) in October 2011.

    Interview

Easy I was open, and needed the job. My children where older, and I needed to make money. As well, as getting out of the house. I always loved to shop there, and knew one day I would work for them. If I only knew what I was getting my-self into... I would have never taken the job.

    Cashier Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Beaverton, OR
    Accepted Offer
    Negative Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 5 daysinterviewed at WinCo Foods (Beaverton, OR) in July 2011.

    Interview

It honestly was a very easy interview, but I had a friend that helped me get the job. And, the interview process has changed drastically since I was hired. Now, they interview 5-10 people at a time, have you watch a video and answer questions and then decide if they want you back for a one-on-one interview.
