Interviewed Nov 2010 (took 3 weeks)
Responded to online job ad and was contacted by Sales Manager and he conducted phone interview that focused on prospecting skills, specifically on strategies you use and have used to cultivate NEW business. How much of your current or previous sales consisted of new vs. existing business.
At conclusion of phone interview, a face to face interview was set up for a week later when he was going to be in town. During the face to face, I actually met with Sales Manager and VP of Sales at the same time. They ran through my resume focusing again on my prospecting skills and ability to close new business. Asked to give specific examples of strategies and outcomes for each job I'd held. This lasted about an hour and 15 minutes and was told I'd be contacted the following week regarding next steps if there were any.
Was contacted the following week and had to complete online application so they could conduct an extensive credit and background check. This was hardest part of the entire process and reason formal offer wasn't extended.
Final impression was that they had quite a bit of turnover and sales people were always looking to be replaced by management. The Sales Manager and VP of Sales would have been great people to work for and compensation appeared strong relative to others in the industry.
