Interviewed Apr 2012 (took 4+ weeks)
Easy phone interview. Six one on one interviews. Nothing technical. Everybody was really nice there. Workday is getting ready for their IPO so everybody there is really excited. Company culture is definitely going to change because of growth. They are experiencing some growing pains but obviously that's normal for their situation. During my interview they gave me and the other interviewees t-shirts which was kind of odd. Now I have a lime green t-shirt in my room that reminds me that I did not get an offer. Overall it was a cool experience. Their headquarters are nice.

After going through 6 1:1 interviews, 1 panel interview and 1 presentation they never responded. At the very least they should of told me they were not interested.

Interviewed Feb 2012 in Atlanta, GA (took 2 months)
Lengthy. You have to interview with many people - over a long period of time - to get into the real meat of the process. There is limited information provided, and the (contract) recruiters are so overwhelmed (or so it seems - they work at home with kids and no daycare) that they require 2-5 calls to return your calls.
At the end of the day, Workday is rebuilding Peoplesoft. EVERY ONE of their people either worked for Oracle, Peoplesoft, or a competitor. Period. If you interview and do not have this experience, expect to get drilled on how they found you and why you should work for them. "Relevant experience" is irrelevant.

Interviewed Feb 2012 (took 1 week)
After submitting my resume, they invited me on site for an all day interview. This consisted of a breakfast, company orientation, 3 hour block of 1:1 interviews, followed by another group presentation of the company, and finally concluded with a social.
All in all, the 1:1 interviews never really went too technical. They focused primarily on object relational models and design questions. They don't really go into coding as their in house developers use a proprietary language.
They really went out of their way to make the interview as stress free as possible and all of their employees are pretty laid back.

Interviewed Dec 2011 in Pleasanton, CA (took 4+ weeks)
First contacted by Workday recruiter who was a contractor for Workday. The position was Enterprise Architect which is a pre-sales role on the technology side instead of the functional side. Had one phone interview with the recruiter and three on-site interviews with different Workday employees. The first interview was with the hiring manager, the second interview was with two sales managers and one sales director, and the third interview was with the director of pre-sales.
Each interview was at Workday HQ in Pleasanton, CA and all interviews except one were done in conference rooms on the first floor. All interviews were slightly late in starting even one that was conducted during the off-hours at the end of the day. Interviews were focused on finding the right fit for the company, highly stressed culture and work-hard/play-hard mentality. Each interview was conducted differently although all professionally.
Was impressed by the technology, the people, and the culture. Seemed as though Workday hired sharp people who were passionate about technology and their company. Allowed the opportunity to ask questions through the interview process and not just interview the candidate. Got the impression that the team was growing quite significantly, was pushing toward IPO in the near future, and they were interviewing quite a few candidates.
Sadly, was disappointed by the unprofessional conclusion to the interviewing process. After not hearing any response or follow-up from the recruiter or hiring manager, reached out to both for an update on the hiring process. At the very least, to get feedback on improvements for the future. Received no communication, even after following up after hearing nothing back. Understandable for going through one interview, unacceptable for interviewing three times in which this was apparently one of the last interviews before a decision was to be made on a final candidate.

Interviewed Sep 2011 in Pleasanton, CA (took 4+ weeks)
Applied on their web site and didn't hear back for about a month. Then spoke with the HR person and scheduled a time to talk with a former colleague from a previous company. That went as expected. Onsite followed a week or so later, consisting of three hours of sitting at a computer making their broken test code run and implementing some basic logic in their application code. Then went to lunch with four people, mostly developers. After lunch was a panel review of my code changes, followed by a 1:1 with a developer and then an overview of the system by the hiring manager (the same former colleague). After a week or so got a voice mail with no specifics and I declined to call back; received a few more voice mails, no email. I assume I failed. Even if not, it was such a miserable interview I didn't want to accept even if they did offer.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Pleasanton, CA (took a day)
I met with recruiters at the career fair and managed to get an interview with one of the engineers. We talked for an hour about my experience and pretty much about what he did.
I was sent an email and asked if I was willing to come up for an in-person interview. I accepted and was interviewed by 5 different engineers, 3 of which asked me technical questions and asked me to write code while the other 2 was pretty much just asking me about my past projects I had on my resume.

Interviewed Oct 2011 (took a day)
onsite 6 1:1 interviews mostly behavioral and explanation of company and products, one tech interview. the recruiters do a really good job of making people feel welcome and organizing the interview process. employees are all nice, enthusiastic, and very open to questions. pretty chill tech interview but good to refresh uml diagramming, object relationships before interviewing. no algorithms or coding questions since developers don't code in the traditional sense. they have a development environment built on top of a java framework that allows them to create objects/design applications using a gui interface. if you do well on the tech interview, you have a good chance of getting an offer. the rest of the decision is determined by how well you connected with the other interviewers on a personal level and how interested you seem in the job. they give you plenty of opportunities to network and talk to them during the day. ask lots of questions. by the end of the day, you have a good sense if you will get an offer or not. about 5 (out of 25) people there on my day were discreetly called to the side to talk more, so i assume they got offers. i was notified about their decision to pass about 2 weeks later.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Pleasanton, CA (took 2 weeks)
Met for one-on-one on campus, had an additional interview, and then had 6 back-to-back interviews on site.
Everyone seemed to love what they were doing, and seemed like a happy company to work for.
Was very surprised to hear that they didn't want to extend an offer. Oh well, It just wasn't meant to be.

Interviewed Oct 2010 in Pleasanton, CA (took 2+ weeks)
I spoke on my university campus with a recruiter from Workday for approximately 45 minutes. The following week, I had a phone interview with a manager of the Technology QA group for one hour. I was notified via email that I was accepted for final round interviews on-site in Pleasanton. I was interviewed by 6 people spanning 3 hours, and was asked about the skills listed on my résumé, as well as other concepts pertaining to the position I was applying for. Four days later, I was called and offered a position, which I accepted.
