Bartender Interview

Scottsdale, AZ

I applied through an employee referral and the process took a day - interviewed at Yard House in January 2008.

Interview Details – There were 2 interviews, first with the GM and second with the bar manager. The bar manager had me do a pour test on the spot, which I didn't expect. The questions were standard, previous work experience, teamwork, etc. Asked me some general recipe questions.

People were very nice but somewhat cold. Culture is very corporate, expected for a big restaurant, but really on the extreme side.

Interview Question – Will you do a pour test right now?   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – No negotiation

Interviewed at Yard House

Interview Details – The interview process for the Yard House was directed toward the personality of the potential employee, but instead on what specifics they were looking toward. Be ready to just merely the highest job experience with a mediocre personality.

Interview Question – How would you handle seeing a fellow bartender not check a younger looking individuals photo idea when they server an alcoholic beverage?   View Answer

Reason for Declining – Did not fit well.
