Interview Question for Program Manager at Microsoft:
You are at the southwest corner of a city. The city streets are laid out in a simple grid fashion, with 8 streets running north-south and 8 running east-west. If you can only travel northward and eastward, how many different routes can you take to arrive at the northeast corner of the city?

To get to the northeast corner of the city, you have to head north 7 times, and then head east 7 times (I assume you start at an intersection). The problem is basically asking then "how many ways can you shuffle 7 north's with 7 east's", because it doesn't matter whether you do NNNNNNNEEEEEEE or NENENENENENENE, both are still 7 N's and 7 E's and both will still get you to the NE corner.
Use a formula for how many ways are there to shuffle 2 objects:
14! / (7! * 7!) = 3432 routes total.
