Phone interview: "Why do you want to work in the retail industry? why zellers?" "How would others describe your personality?" "Describe a time when you had to take charge & how did that make you feel?" "What hours are you available to work?"
They'll ask you about the HBC Credit Card and how you'd get customers to use it or sign up for it.. They'll ask about a conflict that you had to somehow resolve and how that made you feel.. They'll ask about a time where you had to take charge & how that made you feel (We ask this during both interviews). Usually they ask how well you work with others, and what conflicts you've had in your past with others, how you've handled them, etc. -- All in face to face interview
If your applying for cash, be sure to know that you MUST ask EVERY customer if their using their HBC Credit Card, if not ask them to sign up or tell them the benefits of using it -- double their HBC Rewards Points, save 10 % for signing up, 90 day return policy instead of 30 days.
If your not applying for a cash position, be aware that all employees must be cash trained, with the manager deciding whether or not stock and morning crew personnel should be trained on cash.
I work on the customer service desk and did interviews just the other day. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about.
When the head supervisor does your face-to-face interview, be sure to dress nicely, and be as polite as possible. Most do like a little playfulness and what-not, but don't be sarcastic in your interview.
After the interview, they'll either say they'll be in contact or they'll set you up for a walk through.
Good luck! Hope this helped
