Declined Offer – Interviewed in Mar 2012 – Reviewed Apr 30, 2012
Interview Details – I answered an ad on craigslist and received a call shortly after. The job description was vague but sounded promising so I went to the interview. The people there were friendly and upbeat. My interview was with the president who was a young guy in his 20's. He made the company sound promising and the interview only lasted 10-15 minutes. I was then asked for a second interview where I would be shadowing one of the junior exec's they said. I was told to dress professionally so I put on my best shoes. They told me that the positions was direct marketing. I initially thought that I would be going to the actual business to sell but I was taken to a neighborhood. It was door to door sales! They were not upfront at all about that! After spending the whole day with the recruiter going from house to house sometimes rudely being cut off or not answered at all it was very sad to say the least. All the time I was being asked questions and being told how the position could turn into a great career if i applied my own hard work. Hard work meaning working about 9 hour days where the position was 100% commission, full time but no benefits, pay for gas out of my own pocket, and making likely $400-600 a week. There was no base salary of $37,000 as promised in the ad! Also upon further research I found that this company is a Cydcor affiliate which had a ton of negative reviews and was often reviewed as a scam. So to all proceed with warning! they aren't upfront about what you will be doing and I am surprised that big companies such as verizon choose a Cydcor affiliate to represent them!
Interview Question – What motivates you? Answer Question
Reason for Declining – The obvious is stated above. Cydcor is often thought of as a cult.
