Interviewed Aug 2009 in Schaumburg, IL (took 2 weeks)
1. Submitted online resume for specific position with cover letter written specific to relate resume experience to position being posted.
a) The cover letter was written after having researched Zurich over the course of 4 weeks investing considerable time into the company, the organization, the type of work performed at location submitting resume for and finally several hours into the position itself. There was a lot of online detail about the position, and I knew indifviduals working there at the time whom I contacted to get personal information about the role and the organization it was in. Fortunately contact was very familiar with team and provided valuable input as to what would make a vialbe candidate and the type of people managers were for that area.
2. Contacted by recruiter for an initial phone screen, which had on the spot.
3. Scheduled face to face interview at end of phone screen. Consisted of:
a) initial interview with would be manager.
b) interview with another manager who would be highly engaged in working with role establishing detailed direction and schedule.
c) team interview with 3 individuals who would be co-workers, two who were currently holding same position interviewing for.
4. Was contacted by HR recruiter day after interview being notified of intention to make an offer to gather detail around timeline of availability.
5. Offer was made 3rd day after interview (48 hrs after contact from HR recruiter about intent to make offer).
6. Turned offer down.

Reason for Declining
Had competing offers for similar positions from other companies at time. The offer I chose was financially comperable but location was more favorable. Major consideration was that the information I received from aquiatance at Zurich did not paint a positive picture of management in group, or really management of overall division. Sounded as if team had gone through several individuals who had all quit from being pushed to hard and burning out from working without appropriate time to refresh. Had known these individuals from having worked together in past and met with them while consulting in Schaumburg for lunch. During those lunches they didn't make it sound like they enjoyed their work or the way they were treated by their management. I don't mind working hard, prefer it to boredom as it makes day pass quickly and adds to sense of contribution to organizations success. Personal information and experience while interviewing left a deep sense that working beyond reason was the norm while there was no tangible reward, and managment was not beyond dressing down empoyees working very hard to meet dates but struggling due to volume none the less. Actually knew an individual that wound up becoming my uncle who afterwards told me turning down the position was a good move and proceeded to list why he left. Simply put, to much information (much more than the norm) from to many people I knew making it sound like working there was very impersonal and not rewarding. Competing offers all had much better backround information from the sources I had available.

Interviewed Jan 2010 in Schaumburg, IL (took 1 week)
Contacted by HR and was asked about excel skills, past expereince, GPA, behavior and personiality questions, had 1:1 with three managers, then a lunch interview (with no food, but cafetaria setting) with four indivuals, very nice! Read the job responsibilities and make sure you touch base on it on the interview, play around with excel. For the plan and performance management, REALLY KNOW your analytical skills!! All questions will be based on that. Be confident, speak clearly, answer questions asked, relax, tell them you are very interested!! Good luck

Interviewed Nov 2010 in Schaumburg, IL (took 2 weeks)
Although Zurich has an HR department in Schaumburg, they farm out inteviewing to SourceRight/Speherion. The recruiter used a cell phone and the delay was not ideal, made for an ackward conversation - lots of talking over each other. After the call, a link to an on-line application was sent. Sixteen screens later and lots of information later I felt like I had completed a novel. About the only thing not asked was my blood type! At the follow-up call, I was told that I would hear from them for an in-person interview. I was preparing my outfit when I received an email later that evening that I was no longer under consideration. Disappointing.

Interviewed Aug 2010 in Schaumburg, IL (took a day)
There was a 2 one on one sessions with a recruiter and the program head. Each interview was a half hour. Mostly behavioral questions. The people that interviewed seemed nice and the questions weren't too technical. I interned at this company for 2 years and really liked the corporate culture. Nice people, helpful atmosphere, and very stable corporation.

Interviewed Jan 2010 in Schaumburg, IL (took 4+ weeks)
The first step after the application was simple. The recruiter emailed me a list of questions I had to answer about my educational and professional background. There was also a personality test in the email. After the email, the recruiter called to setup a phone interview. The phone interview didn't go so well. I was asked very technical questions and although I answered the questions to the best of my knowledge, the lady interviewing me didn't seem satisfied with my answers. I didn't feel as though I was being interviewed for an entry level position yet a more advanced position.

Interviewed Jan 2008 in Schaumburg, IL (took 2 weeks)
The phone interview which was conducted by the Hiring Manager was average. The in-person with the HIring Manager was interview was informal and somewhat ambiguos. The next part of the interview involved indivually interviewing with the 4 staff members that would have been reporting to me. Two of these staff members where also interviewing for the same position that I was. I couold easily tell that there was no defined interviewing process or questions.

Interviewed Nov 2009 in Schaumburg, IL (took a day)
Recruiter called and set up a phone interview. I would study up on the company before you do the interview, obviously. I spoke to people who previously had the job and it sounded like a nitemare -- too many files, too little time. The recruiter was honest: she said you'll handle 200 files and it will be quite challenging. That their process was to get you up to speed as quickly as possible.
Asked decent, honest questions about my experience. I don't recall any specific questions or trick questions.
I thought the interview went well so was surprised that I did not make the next step to get an interview in the office, however, it was for the best as I was not too keen on the position and probably wouldn't have accepted an offer either way. It is possible the recruiter guessed I wasn't too interested.

Interviewed Feb 2009 in Schaumburg, IL (took a day)
HR asked me about how did I hear the opportunity, my visa status, education background, my past experience, salary requirement, if no relocation package is a problem for me, my major strength, available time for interview.
Hiring manager went through my resume with me and asked me every detail of my projects and disertation. But he spoke so fast and with accent, very hard to understand. it took 30 min.
