Interviewed Jun 2011 in Palm Beach, FL (took a day)
Manager who was new to HHGregg looked at my limited retail resume and talked for 3 min. and sent me to department manager who set up my drug test. that was it , i was hired 3 days later by email. manager called and set up training date out of town but would not set up car pool or give info on how to get to Hotel 20 = miles away. I brought lunch 1st day because they did not inform us a meal was provided. training was scheduled to start and end @ rush hour a car pool would have been convenient and considerate of the trainees expenses and time. We were told we would get mileage and never did.

Interviewed Jul 2011 (took 4 days)
Very simple interview process as the company was new coming into the area. Submitted my application and 2 days later received a call from hiring manager to come in for a panel interview. Arrived at a hotel conference center and waited an extra 30 minutes as they were backed up with their interviews. Sat in a panel of 3 managers and went through the usual questions about previous work experience. The managers were very friendly and made for a relaxed interview. I received a call back in another 2 days asking to come in to meet with the GM and meet some of the other new employees. Drug testing and onboarding were done the next week.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Orland Park, IL (took a day)
HHGregg was a joke. I applied online and was called a few days later at 8 pm to come in the next day for an interview. I agreed and asked what time I should come in. I was told anytime between 2 and 4 were open so I asked for 3 and he said "great, I'll see you at 3." The next day I arrived at 2:50 and asked for the manager that was to interview me. I was told that he should be up in just a few minutes, he was in back conducting an interview. So I waited and talked to some employees about working there. All that I spoke to were unhappy and had multiple complaints, many similar in nature, but that is beside the point. After about 15 minutes went by, I was approached by another associate who asked me who I was there to see. After I told her, she told me that the manager wasn't there and that my interview wasn't until 4! I informed her that my interview was in fact for 3 o'clock and that I had already moved some things around in my day in order to be there for the 3 o'clock interview. She said that he should be back by 3:30 and asked if I could wait. I reluctantly agreed and continued to wait until 3:50 when he finally came back into the store laughing with a buddy he was apparently on lunch with. He was dressed sloppily and he brought me into the back break room to sit in some folding chairs for the interview. The interview was very basic in nature and very easy, however by that point I didn't even want the job. Overall, very unprofessional and poorly managed company from what I could see.

Interviewed Aug 2010 in Falls Church, VA (took 2 weeks)
Two sit down interviews and on sit down test. Took place in the Hilton. 2 on 1 style. Sales manager and store manager took turns asking questions. Started with past jobs, pay, why you left the basics. Asked about current product knowledge.
Second interview was more causal. Paper work and more questions. Questions were more about situations. What was your best/worst customer. How did you handle each. Alot of what would you do questions. Was given a outline of a normal day. What to do during down time. Again it was a great interview team and my best one.

Interviewed Jun 2011 (took 2 days)
I applied for a position online through AllRetailJobs.com. I was called maybe three or four weeks later for a group interview. The group interview had 4 other people, so 5 total. I was the only female. Two managers were conducting the interview.
The group came in, put on name tags and were instructed to do a "group activity" while the managers gathered paperwork. This is actually a way the managers watch everyone interviewing to see who is a team player, who takes initiative, etc. The activity was to build the highest freestanding structure out of index cards within five minutes. The trick is to fold the cards and create support.
After the card building, the managers went through everyone and asked questions like "What do you know about the company?" and "Why do you want to work here?" And "What do you have to offer?"
Then a piece of paper is passed out which lists 10 different potential tasks, four of which involve customers and customer service. You are asked to pick four which are the most important and explain why. One other interviewee also chose the four I chose. The rest chose random tasks. Obviously, if it involves customer service or customers at all, it is the answer.
We were released and told they would keep in touch.
In two days I was called and asked for a second interview. The second interview was one on one, with the very polite general manager. We mostly just discussed the company and the position. They offered me the job on the spot and I accepted.
