Interviewed Dec 2011 in New York, NY (took a day)
Resume was submitted through a current employee. Invited in to meet with HR rep, planning manager and director of planning. All three described the kate spade aesthetic and how the team operates. They seemed very thorough and capable. The interviews focused on my career as well as my hobbies and pursuits which was encouraging. After leaving the interviews I was hopeful but was informed nearly 2 months later they were moving forward with other candidates.

Interviewed Jun 2008 in Philadelphia, PA (took 2 weeks)
I handed in my resume in person and they set up an interview on the spot. Within the week, I have a 1:1 interview with the manager and assistant manager at the time. They asked simple questions about my previous retail experience such as "What were your duties?". Within another week, they called me to offer me the position. It was short and simple.

Interviewed Jan 2010 (took a day)
An employee from a local Kate Spade called me within a few days after I had submitted my resume online. She arranged an interview for the upcoming weekend and it was just a brief (30 min.) one on one interview. If you didn't fill out an application at the store, you will have to do it when you arrive for the interview. Since I didn't seem too enthusiastic about working at Kate Spade specifically (I just applied through Craigslist), it hurt me in the short run. I wanted to work a stock position in retail, but because I showed a lack of interest in working at Kate Spade verses somewhere else, my answers were not as strong as they could have been. I also did not want to do both stock and sales, but I should have anticipated the responsibility regardless (b/c only a few people are staffed during a shift). I would recommend showing passion about working at K.S. if you really want the job. I also did not know too much about the company because I don't shop there, so it was my fault for not doing enough research. The interview process as a whole was pretty standard and casual (the questions, not the dress attire!).
