Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Montvale, NJ

I worked at A&P full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The associates are generally hard working individuals that care about the company. All the associates I worked with were also very friendly and willing to help you out if you had a problem.

    Cons

No long term direction from upper management. Constant change of CEO every 3-4 years does not give enough time to put into place a long term strategy and implement it. No raises for over 8 years for corporate associates. Also having an ex-CEO (Sam Martin) tell all associates that they are "Marginal" does not engender loyality or confidence by the associates toward upper management. Constant theat of outsourcing and downsizing to save money also does not engender loyality by the rank and file. Upper management seems only interested in stabilizing A&P so they can either sell-off the entire company or break it apart but they do not seem interested in leading A&P into a productive future.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your associates with dignity and respect.
