    I worked at ACCO Brands

    Pros

    - Parent company owns brands that are well known and have a long heritage in the office supply industry

    Cons

    - the Kensington computer technology group was pummeled by the economic downturn like most other companies, but in this case there was considerable disruption to their business
    - multiple layoffs got rid off poor performing employees, but then managemnt implemented across the board salary cuts that drove top performers away as well. So they were left severely understaffed with a mediocre talent pool
    - company lost shelf space in most major computer resellers as their products were seen as being just "me too" with a weak value proposition
    - management has no concept of what it's going to take to turn it around and is grasping at straws
    - almost all of their products are sourced off the shelf from Asia and have zero differentiation

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Please get rid of the whole layer of middle management staff that have been there for 10+ years and brought the company to the brink of bankruptcy. Their skill level is so much lower than what you would find in silicon valley amongst people who have current skills and real world experience outside of Acco
