Good Pay & Benefits. Great people to work with. A large variety of technologies in the Data Centers - old and new, good and not-so-good. Highly complex environments to keep you challenged. Most managers allow for flexible work hours.

Most technical resources are highly overworked, i.e. 50 to 60 hours a week, on a regular basis. Desktop tools (PCs, apps, collaboration apps, etc.) are a joke. Laptop images and major rollouts clearly are not tested before being deployed. GIS has a free hand to install anything, without testing how it impacts productivity. (Yes - it is a PCI/PII environment, but TEST first, deploy second) Executive Manage puts a lot of lip service into "Employee Engagement" but takes little to no action of value to employees, e.g. 50 to 60 hour work weeks, lousy and/or burdensome tools, ugly work environments.

    Advice to Management

ELT - you may enjoy 50 to 60 hour weeks, but try putting yourself in your employees' shoes for a bit. Take work/life balance seriously. Perhaps your life, and your self-identity, is all about work, but that is not the case for the majority of your employees. And actually place yourself next to your employees - not in some golf community. Why isn't corporate HQ in one of your primary processing centers. (Don't use Tax breaks as an excuse) How can you take the pulse of your employees when you're 500 or 2,000 miles away? Try working in one of those cubicles for a month.
