Former Employee - Major Accounts District Manager in Minneapolis, MN

I worked at ADP full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Very formalized programs, processes and protocol for working deals.
Decent tools and support for sales.
    Brand recognition.
Commission structure enables top performers to make tremendous money.
    Car /cell reimbursement.
    Top notch training program.
Great technology - continuing to evolve and catch up (overall still behind the curve).
Sales Trips - at least 2 per year
    Type A sales team.

    Cons

    Uncompetitive salary.
Many sales opportunities are filtered by management and fed to 'top performers'.
'Good ol' Boys culture' Management has been working together for many years and work to protect one another, often at the expense of reps.
Customer support and implementation quality are poor. Consistent negative feedback on both items.
High pressure environment to hit weekly metrics.
Success is somewhat dependent on who your manager is (what's their tenure, are they well connected internally, etc).
Viewed by the market as a Payroll provider. Selling HR can be an uphill battle.
UI / UX can be cumbersome to demo.
Small territories, difficult to generate new opportunities without external referral network.
Limited career opportunities despite being a huge organization.
Many closed door meetings with managers creates a culture of insecurity and skepticism.
Reps will work deals / opportunities behind the back of their colleagues to secure sales credit.
    Office culture needs work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There has to be more transparency around process and how decisions are made.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Positive Outlook
