Opportunity to help people stay safe, although you can buy monitoring for $15/mo if you look around.
And it will be exactly the same level of "safety" you get with ADT, since response times depend upon the police, no matter what the salesman tells you!Cons
The company charges 300-600 for cameras, and they're not even wireless or motion activated!
You can buy 8 wireless cameras on ebay for under 200. Free software online allows you to capture MOTION ACTIVATED video but the company doesn't even know this.
It's been out there for at least 5 years, but ADT continues to price itself out of the market.
When a client buys the PULSE system, they also are forced to pay about 30-70 more PER MONTH for the monitoring, although of course nobody is viewing what you see on your cameras. (EXCEPT HACKERS!)
AND GUESS WHAT - UNLESS YOU ASK THEM TO ADD IT TO THE CONTRACT, YOU DON"T EVEN OWN YOUR OWN EQUIPMENT YOU JUST PAID THOUSANDS FOR! Adt says all equipment belongs to them!
(Yes, it IS possible for hackers to hack in and see anything your cameras see, but this is rarely disclosed.)
One of these days it will be revealed that adt authorized dealers have installed smoke detectors without connecting them to the monitoring station. They do this because the smoke detector is part of the basic package, but the lowest monthly fee is 29.95, or 34.95 with smoke/fire added. To keep the rate low they do this but now the client has NO SMOKE / FIRE MONITORING, and they don't even know it.
In some areas, I found 25% who had smoke detectors but only burglary on their monitoring agreement. (SMOKE/FIRE WAS NOT INCLUDED!!! - CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?????) So, I told the legal dept about this.
But what did they do about it? NOTHING. Clearly they are waiting for a death / lawsuit.
That is why I left. Because I knew they didn't really care about their clients at all. It's all about the money.
People are killed in accidents trying to get to appointments on time and you never hear about that either. Or while trying to call in a sale, which can take up to 1 hour, since their telephone operators are incompetent too!Advice to ManagementAdvice
