I have been working at AECOM full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Many divisions and opportunities for cross-training, lateral, and vertical growth within the company; Reasonable benefits with great maternity and paternity leave options for employees who have been with the company for five years (compared to other companies operating in the US); Offices all over the world, offering short and long-term transfer and travel opportunities; Wellness program incentivizing good health with lower health care costs; Flexible work schedules and arrangements to work from home offer a work/home balance that helps retain talent.

    Cons

The company doubled in size in the last year by acquiring another similar company (URS), and is still in the process of merging the operations. As a result, many employees are being trained on new systems while still trying to perform their regular work amid the ongoing reorganization. This is causing the atmosphere to be more stressful than usual, but should settle out in the near future as the organization grows into itself.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work, and continue to keep the lines of communication open. Your efforts are appreciated, and the many talented people working in this company are ready and willing to believe in the new company vision. Only, please at least consider not changing all the offices to open plan. I know, I know, it would be a lot cheaper to keep us all in one big room at a single mega-desk, but I suspect faster employee turnover resulting from dissatisfaction with that kind of work environment would reduce the savings fast. Just a thought.
