I have been working at AMSEC full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Low Stress, good staring salery

    Cons

Absolutely no job security. After 33 weeks on the job and 90% qualified, was laid off because of lack of further funding of contract I was hired under. My area of specialty I was suppositly hiried for under the job discription did not exist where I was assigned, instead I was exspected to know or learn areas well outside my experience. Lack of work for what I was hired for and my large learning curve set me up for an early exist that was no fault of mine but being laid off so quickly will raise red flags dispite all the proof and good references I have obtained that supports otherwise.

    Advice to Management

Just don't make up a position just because the customer (Huntington Ingalls/ NNS) has money to spend before the end of the year so you hire the applicant that matches as closely as posssible but need to make up the job description to match up the resume. It hurt me because I was at a big disadvantage where I was placed for the customer spent the advailable contract money but gained an employee with a background they did not need which resulted in laying the employee off as soon as the contract money started to run dry and no fair evaluation of the competance of the employee since the employee background was far from the target they were hoping they would get. My MBA and BA Accounting did not help in with nuclear engineering. It was managements fault with my long learning curve and my disposal when the money was spent. No they lay me off because of position elimination after 33 weeks and seen weary of transfering me to a better fit because of so/so competence in the nuclear field. It was a fun time but this foot in the door may have been the wrong door to build a good reputation of my competence. Cum Laude in ACC is not justified!!! Senor MGT found out the truth about my background and paid me a visit to make fun of my business degrees and how "they", the nuclear engineers are so much better than my silly background
