Former Employee - Senior Lead Technician in Pensacola, FL

I worked at AP Sound full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great pay for installers, ( because of all the over time. The jobs are screwed by the designers who approve prints.) Great location, the office is centrally located. and the checks cleared ( mainly because they are now owned and finically backed by Sweet Water. Which I hear is a great place to work.

    Cons

The install side of the company changes operating procedures faster then people who work in the office change job tittles. If someone in the office lost a lot of money on a job, or a couple of jobs they would just get a new title. ( if you were in the yes man group, If you were not you just got replaced)
imagine being out of town for 4 weeks and then the Thursday before you are supposed to come home they canceled your plane tickets. Because they sent a designer to program the system. Why not send the guy you payed to be a programmer. Fire people because you say they are losing you money, but you micro manage. The persons you fired were doing the jobs the way you told them too.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your staff better. Don't send an employee home because of lack of work, without pay for a week, then fire them Monday morning. They could have been looking for work. Not sitting at home thinking they will be at work making money on monday. When you hire someone to do a job say, designer. Hold them accountable when nothing in the design turns out to work the way they designed it. Replace upper management with someone who actually knows something about the audio industry, and how to treat people with dignity. Every customer I dealt with thought the figure head of the company was a lot like George Bush Jr. "Yup, He is the president but he has no idea what he is doing to the people or the country (company).
If you wish to keep your sells up I also suggest you drop the 300% mark up and get with the times. People are able to price check equipment and labor with a smart phone the very minute you give them a quote. Wake up.
