    Location, benefits, schedule flexibility and nice employees

    Cons

    Listen to your employees, the worker bees. These are the people that sacrifice and choose to make this their place of employement. Many of these people out perform management but because they are not considered a favorite or in a clique, they are often overlooked for advancement. Invest in training. Give the employees something to look forward to in terms of promotion. Invest in software so that we can work smarter, not harder! Pay more attention to the individual departments within Shared Services. Ensure that your managers are respecting and treating EVERY employee fair and the same. Insist that the lines of communication are open and confidential. Employees should not hear or be told of others personal information. This company has escaped many lawsuits because of the lack of managing skills. Insist that management base salary and merit increases on experience and performance. We as employees should not feel that we have to friends with our superiors in order to advance professionally or financially.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Conduct a thorough investigation into the shared services organization. Insist that everyone follow the rules and policies. Graduate out of the small business mindframe into the organization that you portray and advertise to existing and new customers. Disseminate the "good ol boys club" within the departments. As the company grows and make changes for the better ensure that each and every department is on the same page. This company lacks communication when it involves everday working procedures. Insist that your managers actually manage and not just delegate. When the worker bees know more than the manager, that becomes a problem. Stop promoting based on your rerelationship with that person. Ensure each and ever employee is afforded the same playing field when it comes to promotion. As of today, the shared services group are not on the same page and are not working together in an effort to follow the vision of our new leader. This is proven daily to our external and internal customers. We don't have a clue of who to go to for certain things, who signs what, who supports who...... we really need help! Have closed sessions with each group, without managers, and let the workers be honest. You'll have a better success rate regarding productivity. Have a consultant or company come in and do an evaluation! Listen to your empoyees!!
