I worked at AT&T full-time (more than 5 years)Pros
Pay was decent, my team was some of the best talent in the industry bar none. Middle Management is close enough to the rest of us to care. Working from home is a huge benefit!Cons
Can be very long hours, but the teleworking option offsets that and allows you to maintain a healthy work life balance.
Every 6 months or so, your job will be in jeopardy of outsourcing.
My manager quit when he was forced to reduce his team of 40 down to 20.
My replacement manager was "surplussed" 2 times in the last year.
Stability is virtually non-existent.Advice to ManagementAdvice
If you don't plan to retain your internal staff, please don't lead them to believe they have a chance. The latest offshoring effort resulted in letting go of 80% of the people released from their current positions. That sends a clear message, you care more about making a buck for the share-holders than you do about American Jobs. Enjoy your shiny new Lamborghini.
I'm not sure of Randalls knowledge or involvement, but he should know that having a change in the 2020 roadmap, and claiming "find a good position" right before a massive hiring freeze sends a mixed message. Then to add insult to injury, to find 3 positions that I actually fit, and wanted, were all denied ABOVE Pam Parisians level. The last effort was after taking a 2 week UNPAID leave of absence, just to be shot down on the last day.Doesn't RecommendPositive OutlookApproves of CEO
