    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    AT&T payed well and had a great benefit structure. A lot of the customers had difficulty problems that if you could fix and turn into a good sale with home products really instilled a sense of confidence and pride.

    Cons

    My managers tried to have us be more like reps who lied to customers in order to gain additional lines of service. I saw 2 reps get promoted of their bs because of their ability to sell home products. When I pointed out the high cancel rates (90%) I was told at least they were getting the number (falsely and costs att money). My manager complained I never trusts him that's because he pushed me to be shady. Also, had to push ridiculous things that didn't pay you and only wasted mental energy that could have been used selling digital life or uverse tv. Managers say one thing to your face but another thing when you aren't around. Consistent coaching consisted of "hit the number" what kind of coaching is that? Explaining the difference between a 2 yr. Contract and NEXT on the convoluted msv plans was worse than trying to understand market derivatives.

    Advice to Management

    The customer experience is false. Reps always take surveys and sell lines for sims to hit wtr numbers and coach customers out the door. Marketing team isn't transparent and your RSMs can't coach or manage effectively. Fear is not a motivator, I worked under 9 asm and 4 rsm and only 2 years with the company. With the exception of 1 asm, all other managers tried to instill fear. No sense of permanance. Also, the whole no retaliation thing? Gotta work on that.
