I worked at Accenture full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Anyone who has nice things to say about Accenture is not giving a genuine review as an Accenture employee or is possibly a shareholder. The only pro is that what I endured at Accenture allowed me realize more about myself and that I won't compromise my health or personal life in the hope that my overtime will one day be financially rewarded. I was forced to give Accenture one star, but Accenture does not deserve any.

    Cons

Where to begin! In a nutshell, Accenture managers force employees to not record their real hours of work and so employees work many hours of unpaid overtime. If you want to be promoted, you must work overtime and weekends for free but there are lots of doormat employees who will do this and you can't all be promoted. Accenture has the WORST management skills I have ever witnessed. Most of their managers are lazy, rude and sexist and will have nothing to do with the work their team is doing, except possibly for a 5 minute briefing before meetings with the client. These managers believe that because they suffered in the lower ranks, they now have the right to delegate all their tasks and not be involved. They think the hardest work should be done at the lower ranks, therefore graduates, Analysts and Consultants are "expected" to do the work of a manager for much less salary. They "expect" inexperienced graduates and other employees to quickly become experts in any technology thrown at them, by "self-skilling" using google, or just magically picking up expertise as they work. They ask employees to do too many tasks for any person because overworking employees is cheaper than hiring an adequate number of employees. They under-pay employees, over-promise clients and under-resource on their projects. Their projects are usually delayed with less delivered than was agreed. An Oracle employee once joked that before Accenture's employees started with Accenture they were chefs and he has a point. Accenture like any good-looking and young person to work in their IT roles, whether the person has studied IT or even likes IT! I'm told socializing is part of the job at Accenture and after a long week of daily overtime, socializing with Accenture employees is the last thing I ever wanted to do. Accenture reward and favor employees who back-stab or embarrass their own team members when the project manager is in earshot, lie to the client and to everyone and conceal important information from their own team. The lies just got to me in the end. Accenture tell their employees they must lie to the client team members about progress and conceal all project issues from the client. Lying about themselves and exploiting their employees is Accenture's business. They lie that they're leaders in diversity, they respect the individual, they offer work/life balance- nothing could be further from the truth.

    Advice to Management

Find out what good management is really about! Get involved in the team's work instead of being lazy and rude. Stand up for and support your team. Don't be sexist. Lead the team and provide guidance. If you want higher pay, earn it! Stop the illegal practices including the law in Australia that excess sick leave should be unpaid not deducted from annual leave- Accenture does not obey this law either.
