    I have been working at Accolade full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    The pay
    The culture is pleasant on the surface
    The concept of helping people is great

    Cons

    Free coffee and snacks. If you dont understand why this is listed as a con, then Accolades leadership already has you outsmarted.

    There seems to be a persistent diversity issue that keeps coming up. The problem seems specifc to African Americans here. I dont see ANY black guys working here really, and I know that a former employee tried to report us for discrimination. I have heard the African American employees complain about promoting our African American co workers, and I have to say, I dont know of one single African AMerican here promoted to a steward(lower level manager) postion. They will hire outsiders, but for some reason don't think very highly of the current staff of African American empoyees they have--at least not highly enough to promote someone. They have a few that made it as high as a lead, but since our inception, have not promoted an African American through the ranks to leadership roles. It doesnt affect me, but it is really sad to know. We have to fix this. And why, in clssic racist stereotypical form, do the Indian and Pakistani employees only work in IT???

    Management hides key facts about the company, yet says they are transparent. I heard we are owned by 2 companies, which is why Accolades leadership cannot easily adjust to situations, or make fluid decision, but no one says what this is in straight terms, just like the call center confusion(see below). We should all know that we have 2 additonal people to answer to-- our intial investor and the hr company that we wrok wit are co-owners as far as I can find. Why do we not all know this???. This information is kept a secret for some reason that seems very shady. Ive heard it only comes up when Accolade is threatened with legal action.

    You take more traditional customer service type of calls than not. They do mislead you in the interview, hate to have to admit it. Most calls will be basic, a few calls will be special. Management expects you to turn all basic calls into a special call by using what amounts to sales techniques in my opinion, which really really really sucks. And you do have a qouta, its just that they dont tell us until you dont hit it. So all of those kind of critiques in these reviews are sadly, very true. Helping the client might be tertiary at best on Accolades real list of priorities.

    There are very few written policies. In some cases here, thats a plus, but only in terms of management flexibilty. I think we all would rather have an actual employee handbook with rules and benchmarks that apply specifically to us. Lack of policy feels great--loose and relaxed until someone in management does something wrong. Then the lack of publicly posted polices becomes problematic.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Diversity stretches beyond white women.

    We need some testosterone

    I think a great deal of management should leave. I am not angry, I just really think we need new mangement blood with a fresh perspective.

    We know that your diversity efforts are reeking of conflicts of interest. Be sincere. An award regarding diversity shouldnt be from friends of the CEO, or organizations with board memebrs that have our companies owners as board members as well, or former co workers of the CEO. That is disengenuous. We arent all stupid.

    All the African American employees that are my friends here are looking for jobs elesewhere. The good pay is simply not enough. Do something. My friends checked out long ago.. just smiling in your face, going through motions.

    PAY ATTENTION TO THE REVEIWS. Stop treating this like its complaints.

    If you arent careful, next stop: Union.
