    I worked at Advance Auto Parts full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Decent salary
    Great discount on parts
    AAP has a great benefits plan

    Cons

    LONG retail business hours for parts - 11 PM every day of the week.
    Assistant Manager is hourly and not allowed overtime so any difficult projects require the manager to pick up the slack and work additional hours on top of their 11 hour days

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Advance Auto Parts has their work cut out for them after the acquisition of CARQUEST. CARQUEST has many long term upper management members who believe their company rules the auto parts world. I think they forgot they were going bankrupt because of the way they do business. Leaders ( of the CARQUEST division) are dishonest and no one at the corporate office will take responsibility for anything. It's always someone else's fault and resolution on even the simplest matters takes days and multiple phone calls or emails.The Advance leaders allow the CARQUEST team to call the shots in the field. Hard to understand why the failing company is allowed to dictate retail operations policy. CARQUEST was failing for a reason. Advance was successful for another. AAP needs to take the acquisition by the horns and reign in CARQUEST and their management. Act like you bought the company and make the needed changes ASAP or you will fail.
