I worked at Advanstar full-time (More than 10 years)
Employees: warm, welcoming, very ittle backstabbing. Proximity to lakewalk for exercise/stress relief at lunch; convenient to shopping and bus line. Each manager had a different style but most understood when family conflicts arose.
Upper management does not utilize employees' experience when making reforms. All is decided in closed sessions. Employees can see where changes need to be made. Salaries are not comparable with work demands.
Advice to Management
Take a look at Google, Yahoo and other large companies. They value their employees' opinions and suggestions. They also realize that happy employeees equal successful companies.
