I have been working at Aerojet Rocketdyne full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The co-workers are great and passionate about what they do. They are also very caring and people tend to build friendships that last outside the company. My manager has been flexible about telecommuting options to allow for work/home life balance. However, he is very much the exception and not the rule.

    Cons

Corporate structure has created animosity between the sites and employees at the sites. Professional growth is limited to those identified as "high potential" candidates. Very few women are included in that classification. Employees can be provided with excellent feedback and performance reviews but still be denied raise and promotion opportunities. Long term career and professional development goals are ignored. Telecommuting options are limited, therefore the work/life balance is skewed especially for women. Opportunities for women are more limited.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees. Engage with them. It is truly a shame that you have taken the fun out of being in a career where we deal with spacecraft propulsion. Provide more career growth feedback. Shorten the performance review process- it starts in November and is not finalized until April. Warren Booley needs to close his mouth and listen. He also needs some grooming. A person at his level should NEVER refer to "dwarf tossing" during open forum discussions at All Hands Meetings. He frequently makes inappropriate comments that are degrading to multiple people, but is especially degrading to women or employees without college degrees.
