I worked at Aid to Adoption of Special Kids full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

They seem to really care about helping kids and would recommend them for the perspective families.

    Cons

They have a "row harder" policy. Unless you have on-call duties, they ask for their salaries employees to put in evening time once every month or so with hours that do not meet their 40 hours minimum required time. This is to help with the childcare for the kinship families. They pay you extra for your time--$8.00 per hour. To have such a position you have to have a bachelors. No one with a bachelors working a job that requires that degree should have require that. For those that are on the on-call rotation, they pay a stipend but it is only $50. Considering I was awakened as much as three times one night, that is not a fair wage either.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consult a local federal agency like I did. I described my duties and title and they stated that it did not call for salary. I do admire what you do for hurting kids but if the feds inspect your labor practices you could be fined and the chlldren that have been underserved by CPS would pay the price.
