I have been working at Alere full-time (more than 10 years)

It's the modern American Riches-to-Rags fairy tale. Have a grand dream, acquire dozens of healthy companies and their good products. Cut costs to satisfy your greedy investors by cheapening your operations and sending the assembly to China and services to your Ireland-based tax shelter. Naturally this incites recalls of your biggest anchor products, which can only be overcome by killing off the acquisitions, laying off the bright and hard-working people that once made them great, and further cheapening your operating expenses to useless levels all so the higher ups get their golden parachutes and investors get their boats. Meanwhile, the futures of perfectly good diagnostic technology is trapped by patents, and patient health suffers.

    Hoorah, capitalism.

Many employees work from home, which is a nice perk in today's otherwise high-traffic, low family time society.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Turn back the clock two years, tell Ron to smoke some weed and lay off the acquisitions frenzy until his own house is in order. And learn from the hundreds of other corporate disasters before you, that have proven cheapening your product results in neither steady gains nor good customer relationships.
