I worked at Alex and Ani part-time (Less than a year)

Nice message in the product, great message they are sending out.

I was hired with a base pay plus commission that was earned based off my sales. I worked the Mothers Day season with lines wrapped around the building and sometimes not being done working until 1 am because they would not close if people were still coming. The managers would sometimes take 2 hours to close after we were closed and we had to "stay busy". About a week after mothers day we were told we were no longer getting commission unless our average sale was $100, and this included the month of May for Mothers Day sales. Since so many people came in requesting one cheap bracelet, this is next to impossible to achieve. I did the math, and my commission would have been over $2,000 for that month. A month later the owner bought a vineyard. Fantastic. Now I see why you cut our commission! Then they told us we were lucky to have a job and that Carolyn was "such a nice and caring person for employing us". Please, I can make $10 an hour anywhere! The management was catty and were always playing favorites. Policies for returns changed every day, from no returns allowed to do whatever to make the customer happy. When we would enforce a policy they told us to, the customer would complain and ask to see a manager. The manager would apologize and take the return, making us look like the bad guy. Really glad to be out of there!

    Advice to Management

Set straight policies, and back up your employees when they are enforcing the rules that you told them to. Don't take away pay that people are hired to earn and change the wording of everything just to cover your bad decisions.
