I worked at Ally Financial as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

HR has a team that focuses on making the internship program beneficial for both the company and the interns. The interns are given many opportunities to learn from company leaders. The main focus seems to be giving interns the chance to showcase the value they could bring to the company. We are given the same work entry-level employees would get.

    Cons

Interns may be spending the summer in a department that does not have any entry-level openings. Since HR might have to place you in a different group, you are proving your ability to learn and adapt, not your knowledge of that specific department

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure roles and expectations on all sides (executives, managers, staff, and interns) are communicated at the beginning of the program
