Great place to work, but choose your manager wisely and be prepared for long hours.

I have been working at American Councils for International Education full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great people to work with, dedicated to what they do, opportunities to learn many different types of skills, activities. Fantastic president.

    Cons

Work-life balance is very hard, perhaps impossible, to achieve. Large discrepancies between managers, with relatively few organization-wide policies that are enforced. For example, some managers give comp time and some don't. Pay is not generally commensurate with the quantity of work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find a way to allow more flexibility in employee work schedules. Too many employees are working on holiday weekends and staying until 7:00 at night.
