I have been working at American Heart Association full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great volunteers. If you're position at the AHA revolves around volunteer management, you will meet some incredible and passionate people who volunteer for this organization.

    Cons

Terrible Senior Management. Development Staff are bullied, harassed, and given unrealistic expectations by Senior Staff who work short hours from home and are unsupportive.
Unfair treatment. Certain staff members are favored by senior management. Not given equal expectations.
No work/life balance. The 37.5 hour work week is totally unrealistic. If you want to be semi-successful working at this organization be prepared for a 60+ hour work week.
No idea where the money goes. There are no tangible impact ratios for donor dollars. If staff members don't know, how will they address their volunteers and the public?
    Very high turnover.
