    I have been working at American Homes 4 Rent full-time (more than an year)


    Base pay is ok. Some of the employees are helpful and great to work with.


    This company continues to make the wrong choices and is unbelievably unorganized. Employees are training employees, instead of management taking an active role in doing what they were hired for. Instead of promoting the employees who deserve it, they continue to promote those into supervisor and management roles who have no idea what they are doing, and supervisors that do not ensure the teams well-being. Unfortunately, they continue to promote those who are fraternizing with employees, who brag about smoking illegal substances, and those who only care about their high paychecks. Great employees are not recognized or rewarded for their hard work, but instead are used and thrown away. This is why this company continues to have a high turn around rate and why they continue to lose staff that care about the company. There's no room for advancement unless you are upper-management's favorite, or is "apart of the family". If the employees voice their concerns to upper-management, they are let go, shunned, or looked down upon. Upper-management cannot seem to tolerate those who have an opinion, stand up for themselves, or have an idea that might actually work. They let their pride and status get in the way. This is by far the most unprofessional company that i have ever encountered. I believe that the only way that this will change is if someone who is honest, truly genuine, knows the proper way to manage, and has no relations with upper management takes control.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Supervisors need to be properly trained or demoted. Promote those who deserve to be promoted, and have a education, but this means taking an active role in the daily work lives of your employees, and getting to know them. There needs to be more structure within the company's policies and procedures. Stop treating employees as if they are stupid because many of them have a wide range of knowledge that can significantly help the company. Listen to their ideas, criticism, and how they are feeling.
