I have been working at American Speech-Language-Hearing Association full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

After the last few places I have worked, ASHA seems like an oasis. My contributions are valued. I am part of a group of completely competent people who work as a true team. Stuff that happens in my personal life that affect my work life are accepted and dealt with positively. The vibe around here is just so positive and after the negative places I have worked before this where everything is a battle and politics rules everything, it's nice to work for an organization that provides a more positive work environment. The benefits are great here. I was concerned about going to work for an association, but ASHA is solid financially.

    Cons

Not every team is as strong as the one I work on. Upper management does micro manage the teams and individuals under them. My group deals with this problem as a team, so it affects us individually less than other people. The compensation is not as high than other places I've worked.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Loosen the purse strings some. And, micro manage less.
