    I have been working at Andrews Kurth full-time for more than 10 years


    Many long-tenured employees which speaks for the Law Firm. Salaries, bonuses and medical insurance are usually fair. The Law Firm will and does work with employees in finding a fair balance whenever there are problems.


    Vacation/sick leave is the only area where I feel the company could improve. A new change to employee benefits is that you can only carry 1 week of vacation/sick leave in your account. In the past, you could carry 6 weeks in your account. This really helps whenever you are extremely sick yourself or a family-member that you care for is sick, or when other tragedies happen (i.e., auto accident). Yes, the Family Medical Leave Act is available, however, it does not give you any pay, it only protects you to maintain your job. When you are extremely sick or in an automobile accident or other family tragedy, it helps tremendously to know that you have available vacation/sick time to help you through.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Rethink your vacation/sick leave benefit. Employees would appreciate it very very much. We are dedicated to our Law Firm, as seen by the long-tenured employees. But the term "our" includes helping employees who are going through difficult times in their lives. Allowing employees to carry over even just 4 weeks in their vacation/sick account helps all of us tremendously.
