    I worked at Aptiv Solutions full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Large company with good benefits. Many knowledgeable people. Merger of several other companies indicated promise of growth and vitality.

    Cons

    Poor leadership and poor management skills exhibited by the hand full of folks I worked with during my 14 months employment.

    After working at Aptiv for several months, my line manager asked me to add bogus time to my time sheet in order to submit 40 hours during slow weeks with little travel. She told me that 40 hours must be recorded - even if you did not work 40 hours. That is when I started looking for a different employer.

    After becoming ill one afternoon and entering 3 hours Sick Time on the time sheet, she told me that sick time had to be pre-approved (yes that's right "pre-approved").

    After working extra time over a weekend (when asked by management) with the promise of 'comp time', I was informed that the company had a policy of not giving 'comp time'. Also, I was asked to travel on weekends in order to accommomodate sites - with no 'comp time'.

    When HR was informed of these unorthodox practices, they simply took management word that my complaint was invalid.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Have someone QC your managers. Ask subordinates for feedback (performance review) and assure that the same manager doesn't read the review.
