    I worked at Aquent full-time (more than an year)


    > Unlimited vacation
    > Telecommuting option
    > Networking opportunities
    > Good office location
    > Peers are friendly and not overly competitive


    > Commission structure is based on a high base and a below-industry standard commission
    > Managers aren't given training, so although someone may excel in the company in a different capacity, it doesn't equate to being a good manager. Managers have high turn over and are emotionally driven; not metrics driven. If you're on a good or bad side it counts above performance.
    > Turnover for recruiters (agents) is very high. The atmosphere is paranoia about getting fired. Most (if not all) employees are looking for jobs themselves.
    > Regardless of where the market stands - quotas are not reflective and can be off base for the appropriate city & unemployment
    > Company structure is very top-heavy with no room for upward mobility (oddly despite the turnover). One colleague had been there 7 years and had 5 managers; and was never promoted.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Train your managers and promote those with managerial skills. Just because someone is talented in sales doesn't translate to managing people. Having egocentric management fosters poor leadership and discourages employee morale. Determine quotas based on actual real-time market facts, not arbitrarily on last year's revenue. Make compensation competitive with the staffing market; the current structure is well below standard compensation.
