Poor treatment for upper level management makes what could be a nice place to work a nightmare.

    I worked at Archstone

    Pros

Great co-workers, competitive pay for the industry, decent benefits, and fair sick and vacation policies are some of the high points. A lot of training is offered and co-workers and other managers and usually helpful and friendly.

    Cons

I don't know how it is to work for Archstone in another state, just in the Boston region. I came to the company excited about working with people and pleased with the growth opportunities that were presented to me. Upper management takes advantage of the hard working leasing and patience staff. These people are the face of the company but are not valued that way. The company totes a policy of being "great" to customers and to co-workers, but it rarely happens. The worst part is that it all comes from the Boston corporate office and it doesn't need to be that way. Everyone I worked with worked hard and wanted to do a good job but were often taken advantage of by the corporate office.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value the awesome employees that you have! They are the face of the company and the main reason the company is able to achieve such high rents and customer satisfaction. Treat people well and give them a fair chance at eternal opportunities.
