I worked at Arlington Public Schools (More than 8 years)

Many dedicated and knowledgeable colleagues Most schools have a good to high level of parent involvement and support Huge budget - so no shortage of resources and materials Very good salaries and benefits for teachers, admin and educ. center staff

Unrealistic and frivolous goals (e.g.: 'paperless by 2017') Top level staff quick to jump on latest - and yet to be proven valid - bandwagon/trend in education putting undue stress on classroom teachers Site supervisors face ongoing and increasing workload and demands for improving programs without active support from upper management or salary increase.

    Advice to Management

Get out of your offices more and observe first hand the great work your front line employees are doing. Let some educ. center positions die as staff person retires. Take a hard look at efficacy and actual usefulness of each position at ed center.
