Current Employee - Dental Lab Technician

I have been working at Aspen Dental full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Probably the best paying for a Dental Lab Tech.
    Many Professional, hard working employees.

    Cons

Middle management generally have no clue as to what it is like to work in a dental lab, nor, do many of them care.
Office managers work solely upon a bonus structure and depend on it entirely. With latest changes, dentists also work for bonuses.
Way too much focus on selling treatments. Office managers are under constant pressure to 'get patients the treatment they need' whether the patient can afford it or not and if one should slip through without coughing up a couple of grand, office manager gets a call or email from middle management before the end of the day.
I have seen many young, hard working professional dentists go home in tears because they may see 25-30 patients a day. Upper management doesn't seem to have a problem with burning people out as fast as they can hire them. Wonder why the turnover(burnout) rate is so high ?
We all understand that we have to work hard to succeed, but, one might gather that the Boys at the Top want to retire early and rich- off the backs of those that daily bust their own arses.
Bob Fontana had a great vision over twenty years ago, yet, when he sold(for a second time) to a private equity firm- Leonard Green & Partners- Aspen Dental really has become the Walmart of the dental industry. Seriously, the C.O.O. is from Pizza Hut ! Numbers and Money, Numbers and Money. All about the bottom line and the end of the month.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to have a little bit of respect towards your fellow employees. Remember, it really is about the patient, not you or your brown nose points or your bonus.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
