I have been working at Avaya full-time (More than 5 years)
Channel sales strategy allows sales reps ability to appear busy and successful so lazy incompetent reps will stay employed much longer than they should. If you don't get along with you boss or bosses boss just keep your head down they'll be gone in 6 months or less. Pay is decent and nearly unlimited expense account. Incompetence at all stages of management creates a camaraderie with your peers as no one likes their leader anymore.
That kid in grade school that went to the urinal and pulled his pants down to his ankle...that's Avaya. Middle Management across the board is a series of stereotypes and egos whose talents stop at spread sheet updates and daily time wasting meetings that they can roll up to the next level of incompetence. I once saw them recruit someone away from their current job, give them a big salary boost just to cut them 3 months later when it was decided that territory was being rolled into another...this type of occurrence was more common than not wasting $10's of thousands of dollars for a company that is teetering on insolvency.
Advice to Management
Just sell it off already you're not Cisco as much as you and the top brass you poached from Cisco Canada try to be, you don't have the capital or competency to complete the transition you have been working on for the better part of this decade.Only allow channels to sell net new customers you want to grow and pivot quit churning and burning your install base.
